How delays are worked out
- Buses
- Each bus matched to a trip of its route
- Delay = how much later than trip departure + the route’s usual time to get as far
- Usual time: average time between each two stops on a typical day of the last 6 weeks, same part of day and kind of day (weekday, Saturday, Sunday)
- No delay shown when the trip is unclear (frequent line: 8 min behind one departure, or 2 min ahead of the next?) or the usual time is only the timetable’s (its times past the first stop are estimates)
- On time: up to 5 min late, or ahead of time at a stop along the way
- Trains
- Live position vs the day’s official per-stop timetable on railway.gov.gr (Hellenic Train’s timetable for the few services it doesn’t list)
- Delay = how far behind where its timetable puts it now
- Analytics
- Delays: averaged over the stops passed in the period
- Rankings: only lines and stops with enough passages
- Departures: each timetabled departure vs buses seen leaving the first stop → ran, or skipped (no bus left for it)
- Skipped: listed with when the buses before and after left
- Departures: when each bus left the first stop vs its timetabled time → on time (1 min early to 5 min late), late, early, or bunched (within 2 min of the bus before), and how much each departure varies day to day
- Recording gaps: departures in them not counted
- ▲▼: vs the same weekday a week before · not across a recording gap, a holiday or the method change of 23 Oct 2026
- Holidays: Thessaloniki on its Sunday timetable
- Timetable changes
- Each day vs the same weekday a week before
- Listed once the week after keeps it → no holiday or strike timetables
Limits
- Positions: sometimes late, missing or wrong, and so is anything worked out from them
